Steve Funk is a philanthropist, international entrepreneur, former surgeon, and a leading figure in aviation and the private equity investment space.

A state championship in wrestling, a college scholarship recipient, two East African Safari Rallies, finishing top 10 (6 th ) as the only non-national or international champion, a Baja 1000 finish, 30 off-road motorcycle excursions, a marathon, a private pilots license, a ticket on an upcoming Virgin Galactic space flight, a plethora of business experiences, college and high school hall of fame honors, a close family of 5 wonderful children, 3 daughter-in-laws, 5 grandchildren and counting - and countless unforgettable stories. Dr. Steven C Funk has experienced much since his Iowa farm boy youth.

Following the completion of his Masters and Doctorate degrees, while in residence as an oral surgeon at Vancouver General Hospital, a total chance social conversation persuaded Steven to take a one year sabbatical. Residency at one of Canada’s foremost hospitals was exchanged for an apprenticeship with a pair of the country’s most successful property investors and prolific entrepreneurs – Nelson Skalbania and Peter Thomas. This bold and decisive act marked the beginning of Steven on the street MBA and quite a journey in founding and building successful businesses in real estate, asset management, and services, perhaps capped in semi-retirement with the development of the legacy Airpark – the Refuge Air Ranch.
